Good Garments Start With Clear Cutting Instructions
Turn the approved design into a pattern
Our pattern-making and marker workflow uses CAD software. The starting point is an agreed garment design and measurement chart. Pattern work considers the shape of each panel, seam allowances, construction sequence and the way the selected fabric needs to be handled.
Review grading and fit
Size grading should follow approved rules rather than simply scaling every dimension by the same amount. A sample review helps resolve fit and construction before the final patterns are released. Where a design uses checks, stripes, directional prints or nap, alignment requirements need to be included in the brief.
Plan the marker around the fabric
Marker planning arranges pattern pieces for cutting. Fabric width, grain direction, the size ratio and matching requirements influence the layout. Efficient use of material matters, but it must work alongside correct panel orientation and the approved garment appearance.
Cut with the appropriate equipment
Our current cutting inventory includes six straight-knife cutters, four end cutters and one band-knife cutter. The cutting method is selected for the fabric, lay and component. Cut parts are organised by garment and size so that the sewing team receives the intended pieces together.
Keep revisions controlled
An updated pattern needs a clear revision reference. Changes to fit, seam position or grading should be reflected in the approved sample and production instructions. This is particularly useful when a school programme or brand collection is repeated across seasons.
